Ratings are based on the difficulty for average conditioned walkers and range from 1 (easy) to 5 (challenging). Ratings are based on a blend of terrain, number and steepness of hills involved, and average climate for the scheduled date. Walkers are reminded to be safe: use sunscreen, stay hydrated, wear the appropriate clothing and footwear, and obey traffic laws and rules of safety.
NOTE: Routes listed as "Round trip - loop" have a few opportunities for short cuts. For the most part they return to the start location without retracing steps along the way. Routes listed as "Round trip - up & back" travel one direction for half the distance then return on the same route. These routes are better suited for walkers who have not yet fully conditioned for the distance of the route as they can turn back at any time as needed.
